Rangers will want to get to the end of 2024 without anymore disasters in what has been a year to forget.
The Scottish Premiership title slipped from Philippe Clement’s grasp as the manager ran out of numbers in his squad and then he had to contend with playing in Champions League qualifiers away from Ibrox.
Add this to the loss of a CEO, chairman and director of football operations, and Rangers are in something of a state.

Former Rangers flop Pedro Caixinha to get Jurgen Klopp as boss
What Clement could do with, is someone above him who has been there and got the t-shirt, someone to help guide and advise him, someone like Jurgen Klopp?
This is exactly the position Pedro Caixinha currently finds himself in as manager of Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino.
The former Gers boss, obviously, is part of the Red Bull group that has just appointed Klopp as their global head of soccer.
An appointment that the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund boss feels is the perfect fit, as reported by the BBC:
“A few months ago I said I don’t see myself on the sidelines anymore and that is still the case,” Klopp said on Instagram.
“But I still love football, I still love working and Red Bull gives me the perfect platform for that.
“I want to share the experiences I have collected over the years,” said Klopp.
“We all know there are more successful managers out there but in my career I have fought for promotion, fought for titles and I have fought for trophies.
“Sometimes we failed, sometimes we succeeded and dealing with that is not easy, but it is possible.
“Then I want to learn again. Because when you are in the job and you have to play every three days you barely have the time.
“I want to see, feel and figure out what is useful for football, developing football a little bit as well.”
Caixinha might be sweating a bit.
Contracted until the end of the current season, Caixinha has his side sitting in 13th place, one outside the places needed to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana.
Qualification for the Copa Libertadores is almost certainly out of reach.
Not the level that Red Bull want their teams to be playing at.
Pedro could be in trouble as Rangers tenure shows
Part of Klopp’s remit is to advise teams on playing philosophy, transfer strategy and coach development.
Caixinha has issues with all three of these areas.
Under his tenure, Rangers looked shapeless and without any structure in possession or without the ball.
Then there is the transfer strategy.
There wasn’t one.
Of the players inherited by Steven Gerrard, only Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack ever made an impact on the first-team.
Graham Dorrans was unlucky with injury and, maybe, Gerrard was too hasty to get rid of Fabio Cardoso given who he has gone on to play for since.
Daniel Candeias might not have been of the calibre needed to take Rangers to the next level, but his work-rate made him popular among fans.
The rest are better off forgetting about given the money that they cost and the contribution that they made.
Jurgen Klopp has only just got his feet under the desk, however, Pedro Caixinha might have to get in quick if the Portuguese boss is to learn from one of the best of his generation.
