As Rangers prepare for the visit of Hibs this weekend the club’s first-team stars have been snapped in training as competition heats up for places.

But one notable absentee from the group of photographs may have fans worried about a potential knock picked up during the international break.

In the gallery – available to view HERE – the Ibrox first team is snapped going through their paces as they look ahead to the weekend’s tie with the Easter Road club.

Many may be unsurprised to see that captain James Tavernier isn’t involved in the session – the Ibrox skipper is still working his way back from injury – but fellow full-back Borna Barisic is also missing.

The Croatian international had a busy fortnight away with the Balkan nation, impressing in flashes during the World Cup qualifiers.

This came after an immense run of games for Barisic at left-back for Rangers, the talented Croat starting the Gers’ last 20 games before the international break.

Borna – who has cemented himself as a hugely important figure for Rangers despite a rocky start after a reported £2.2m move from NK Osijek – would then miss the weekend’s 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Cove Rangers completely.

Barisic wasn’t even named on the bench with Calvin Bassey filling in for the left-back in the match, the young ex-Leicester City youth making his first start since the 3-2 League Cup defeat to St. Mirren in December.

It’s not clear if Borna is carrying a knock with no sounds coming out of Rangers as of yet that the influential player is set for a spell on the sidelines.

But after Borna wasn’t pictured in the club’s training snaps, many Rangers fans will have one eye on the press conference ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Premiership clash with Hibs for confirmation.

Barisic had a mixed spell with Croatia on international duty but in the country’s final match of the break, Borna came off the bench to change the game the way only he can.
