Copenhagen midfielder Rasmus Falk insists the Danish club’s trip to Rangers later in January will be a friendly in name only.
The 31-year-old Danish international will be part of the travelling party who visit Ibrox for a mid-season winter friendly on the 16th of January.
With Rangers set to head off for a warm weather training camp in Spain in the meantime – where they’ll also play a friendly with Hertha Berlin – the Danish Superliga side promise to be stern opposition.
Especially considering Copenhagen made shock progress to the Champions League knockouts at the expense of Galatasaray and Manchester United during the group stages.
Rasmus Falk: Rangers clash more than a friendly
Rasmus Falk is expecting a very tough match indeed v Rangers in Glasgow with Copenhagen also set to face Czech outfit Sparta Prague in a competitive double header during the winter shutdown.
Danish football also splits during the winter with both sides hoping to compete on multiple fronts heading into the second half of the campaign.
“There is also not that long until the first training matches in Glasgow and Prague, and they are good opponents that we are happy to meet,” said Falk.
“These are still training matches, but when you stand there, you can do something more than playing a match here at 10 against an opponent we have met 50 times before or from a lower division.
“It gives a different intensity when you are standing in a real stadium with spectators, and when you have also traveled to get to the match, then the whole thing invites you to believe that it is not ‘just’ a training match.”

Copenhagen friendly at Ibrox
Rangers fans will be hoping to catch their first glimpses of the club’s new signings when FC Copenhagen come to Ibrox in nine days’ time.
The Danish side are sure to provide a stern test of Philippe Clement’s Ibrox squad and it’s clear from the comments of Rasmus Falk that the Danes are not taking the trip to Rangers lightly.
Given the club’s Champions League knockout status Rangers will be eager to test themselves against solid European competition heading into the Europa League knockouts.
The Gers have managed to secure a pass to the competition’s Last 16 after finishing top of Group C, overcoming Real Betis in Spain in the final group game of the tournament.
Here’s all the information you need surrounding the game, which is set to kick off at 8pm on Tuesday 16th of January.
