Rangers fans usually love it when they get a leg-up on rivals Celtic with a transfer target and in the case of Tyrese Campbell it’ll come as no surprise that this hasn’t changed.

Reports earlier suggested that Rangers would be the preferred option should Stoke striker Campbell move up north [Daily Record], effectively ruling Celtic out of the race.

Rangers are now said to be competing with Premier League high-flyers Sheffield United and Stoke City themselves for the player’s signature with Campbell’s contract expiring come June.

Tyrese Campbell of Stoke City would reportedly prefer a move to Ibrox over Celtic Park with many claiming he is a transfer target for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side.

The fact Rangers are based in Scotland means the Ibrox club would have to pay considerably less in cross-border compensation fees than the Blades.

The reported interest in 20-year-old striker Campbell appeared to be confirmed by Ibrox club insider Four Lads Had a Dream [Four Lads].

But despite claiming that the club has denied any notion Rangers will move for the player in this window, fans are still excited by the prospect.

Many are also excited by the news that the Ibrox club would pip rivals Celtic to Campbell’s signature should he join Steven Gerrard’s side.

It’s not the first high-profile target Rangers stole a march on Celtic whilst pursuing either.

Rangers landed a considerable psychological blow on Celtic in the transfer window when they secured the signing of Joe Aribo.

The club’s supporters will be hoping they can get powerful forward Campbell over the line too.
