Fans are all excited about who was missing for Rangers vs Aberdeen

Philippe Clement has found a degree of consistency when picking his Rangers team with only a few injuries in the defence preventing him from picking his best XI.

What has also been encouraging is seeing Bailey Rice called up to the first team squad on a permanent basis.

Against Aberdeen at Ibrox, Zak Lovelace was also included but it was the absence of two senior Rangers players from the line-up that raised a few eyebrows.

Rangers fans react to no Kieran Dowell or Rabbi Matondo in the squad

The transfer window has been a quiet one so far, however, speculation has been rife regarding interest in Rabbi Matondo.

Another player who Rangers fans would be glad to see the back of is Kieran Dowell.

“Omg, he’s finally put Rice on the bench and Dowell nowhere to be seen,” proclaimed one excited Gers fan.

“Please tell me Matondo and Dowell are leaving?” Pleaded another, keen to see two players who have offered very little this season moved on.

“No Dowell on the bench? The title race is back on,” said one optimistic Bluenose.

“No Dowell on the bench finally,” commented another, relieved that the space on the bench could be put to better use, whilst another put it down to a higher power, “No Dowell and Matondo, there is a god after all.”

This Rangers fan took the line-up to mean one thing, and one thing only, “Bye bye Matondo!”

How much are Dowell and Matondo costing Rangers a week?

Between them, Matondo and Dowell didn’t cost huge transfer fees, however, they take up around £40,000 per week on the wage bill before appearance or goal bonuses, according to Salary Sport.

It’s not exaggerating to suggest that better recruitment could see four players who offer more in terms of availability and productivity for the same amount of money.

When Clement and Nils Koppen were tasked with rebuilding Rangers’ squad, moving players on was always going to be the hardest task.
