One of the Rangers managerial candidates is Kevin Muscat, and former Gers star Barry Ferguson has noted what some Ibrox faithful are getting wrong about him.

According to The Daily Record, Kevin Muscat is one of the final two candidates for the Rangers managerial role.

Former AS Monaco and Club Brugge manager Philippe Clement is the other remaining candidate.

Barry Ferguson played with Muscat for Rangers, and the pundit has noted what some are getting wrong about Muscat.

Barry Ferguson on Rangers managerial candidate Kevin Muscat

Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record: “Obviously, of the two contenders, I know Musscy better having played alongside him during his 12-month stay in Glasgow.

“There’s a false impression about Kev floating around.

“I’ve heard folk say he’s inexperienced but he’s been managing for more than a decade now and has worked in three different countries.

“Things might not have gone so well for him in Belgium but he’s done really good things in both Australia and Japan, just as Ange Postecoglou did.

“I take the view that he’s done his apprenticeship and his next step could very well be a move to Glasgow.

“Yes the demands at Rangers will be far higher than anything he’s gone through before but he’ll know that fine well having played for the club before.

“He was strong and robust as a player – and I don’t just mean in the tackle!”

My View: Rangers should seriously consider Kevin Muscat

There is speculation that Rangers prefer Philippe Clement to Kevin Muscat, but I believe that the Gers should be serious about the latter.

Muscat knows Scottish football inside out and is a former Rangers player.

And, he is in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos at the moment.

The 50-year-old won the J1 League with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2022.

The Australian is doing well at the moment, and Rangers need to bring him now for him to maintain that momentum.

Of course, Philippe Clement is a very good manager, but he was sacked by AS Monaco.

Monaco are now at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

I believe that Rangers should seriously look into bringing Muscat to Ibrox.

Now.
