Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has warned ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard that his celebrations against Celtic could harm his Premier League job prospects.

The ex-Ibrox manager – who famously won Rangers’ first title in a decade and stopped Celtic’s claims of 10IAR – was playing in a legends clash between Liverpool and Celtic this weekend.

The weekend would also belong to Steven Gerrard in the process, with the Liverpool legend netting a penalty and celebrating wildly in front of the travelling Celtic support.

Richard Keys criticises Steven Gerrard.

Now, Richard Keys has taken aim at Steven Gerrard in his own personal weekly blog, with the BEin Sports journalist suggesting the celebrations were unbecoming.

“If [Steven] Gerrard still has ambitions to manage/coach in the PL I really think he should be swerving the legends games – the likes of which we saw at Anfield last weekend,” said Richard Keys.

“Perhaps he’s given up believing that he’s got a coaching career, but if he hasn’t, I firmly believe he’s definitely got to give those games up.

“Either way – he shouldn’t be taunting Celtic fans as he did after scoring.

“I know it’s hard and I know they’d been on at him all through the game – but he’s a big boy and he knows it’s all part of the gig.

“Those fans had paid their money to charity (the players always get paid btw) and so they had a right to get involved in the occasion.”

The Steven Gerrard goal v Celtic helped the Liverpool legends to a 2-0 victory over their Celtic counterparts, with the ex-Rangers boss’ celebrations grabbing the headlines.

But whilst the likes of Richard Keys might moan at Steven Gerrard, there can be no doubts the ex-Rangers boss was quite simply giving what he got as he silenced the travelling Celtic fans the only way he knows how.
