Ex-Rangers striker Andy Gray with surprising take on Scott Brown debate

Much like everyone else in Scottish football, former Rangers striker Andy Gray has been discussing the fallout of last week’s Old Firm.
We’re almost an entire week since the match but incidents surrounding it are still stealing headlines. Least of all the retrospective charges brought against the Old Firm clubs and some of their representatives.

The biggest talking point concerns the charges brought against Scott Brown. He’s been accused of bringing our game into disrepute, and whilst Celtic refute the charge, he’s undoubtedly behaved like a moron.
But Andy Gray doesn’t know entirely what to make of it.

“Do you see what he’s been charged with because it’s quite a strange thing,” said Gray, as quoted by the Daily Record. “It says, ‘Failure to act in the best interests of Scottish football’.”
“He was acting, as much as I dislike it, in the best interests of Celtic Football Club.
“So that’s a strange one. I’m not so sure you can charge someone with that but we’ll see.”
These comments suggest Gray doesn’t agree that Scott Brown did a whole lot wrong on Sunday.

Charges were also brought against Steven Gerrard in the carnage which followed the narrow defeat at Parkhead.
Gerrard allegedly swore at referee Bobby Madden. He has since accepted his one-match ban, which will take place at Motherwell this weekend.
Gray played for Rangers for one season in 1998/1999.
