Celtic captain Scott Brown has been cited by the SFA after the recent Old Firm match at Parkhead. It means the player now faces a ban.
The controversial midfielder was at the centre of several incidents and he will now have to answer the charge. To be honest, many Rangers fans will be amazed the governing body has actually pulled him up. And not because he doesn’t deserve it.
The player’s behaviour has been the talk of the Scottish press after the fallout of Celtic’s Old Firm win. Brown despicably raked Alfredo Morelos’ Achilles before the Colombian foolishly reacted.

Scott Brown also celebrated in front of and goaded the Rangers fans. Given the tense nature of the match, this was wildly irresponsible and endangers supporters.
Whilst the other side of Glasgow might refute any wrongdoing, and have done, there are unarguable grounds. Especially when you consider what the citation is for.
Brown is cited for breaching Disciplinary Rule 77. This deals specifically with players who haven’t acted “in the best interests of Association Football.” It also covers violent conduct (Morelos heel rake) and indecent behaviour (celebrating in front of the fans).
Steven Gerrard in hot water too
He’s not the only one to be cited either. Steven Gerrard has also sensationally been hauled-up by the SFA and offered a one-match ban. The Scottish Sun claims this was for comments he made to Bobby Madden after the match.

Both Rangers and Celtic find themselves in hot water too. The SFA have cited the clubs for allowing three or more players to become involved in a confrontation during or directly after the match.
Rangers, Celtic and Scott Brown have until the 10th of April to respond. Steven Gerrard has until Friday the 5th of April to respond to his charge.
The Hearing Date for all cases is fixed for the 2nd of May.
