Former Rangers star Mikel Arteta is under pressure at Arsenal after the London club lost for the third time in four matches on Monday night.
Everton came from behind to beat the Gunners at Goodison Park, with Demarai Gray scoring a stunning long-range winner in the 92nd minute.
It was a third away defeat in a row following a 3-2 loss to Man United and a 4-0 hammering by Liverpool, with a 2-0 home win over lowly Newcastle their only positive result since early November.
It means there’s once again pressure on former Ger Arteta, who briefly looked to have turned things around following a poor start to the season.
Clean sheets were secured with regularity throughout September and October while goals were coming relatively easily, but now the Premier League club look vulnerable at the back and a little less potent going forward.
Arteta admitted last month that he’s still a Rangers fan and who knows, he could be a future manager of the club he starred for between 2002 and 2004.
His priority right now is getting things right at the Emirates, but he needs results to improve quickly to avoid fan discontent getting out of hand.
A pair of home fixtures will be a welcome sight on his schedule and because of how open the Premier League has been so far this season, Arsenal are still only four points outside the top four.
Therefore, it’s not panic stations just yet for the Spaniard but he could really do with a victory over Southampton on Saturday.
