Former Rangers midfielder Lewis Macleod – who left the club in controversial circumstances – is set to appear on popular Scottish football podcast Open Goal.
The ex-Gers star broke through at Ibrox during the club’s time in the lower leagues of Scotland and was infamously sold to ‘keep the lights on’ as the goalscoring midfielder impressed at Ibrox.
Lewis Macleod will be taking part in the Open Goal channel’s Keeping the Ball on the Ground show and will take up the slot ordinarily held by ex-Gers midfielder Andy Halliday.
The episode is due for release today (22/02/22) with Lewis speaking about everything from breaking through at Rangers to becoming a first team regular under Ally McCoist.
Macleod had initially impressed in a series of goalscoring midfield performances at Ibrox, scoring 16 goals and laying on 15 assists in 76 games at Rangers after the club’s demotion in 2012.
Moving to Brentford in January 2015, Rangers sold Lewis Macleod in a £1.3m deal [Sunday Post] with high hopes about the player’s development down south.
Lewis Macleod plagued by injuries since leaving Rangers
The first of several big injuries struck not long after signing the deal with Macleod injuring his medial ligament in a devastating knee injury that would rule him out for the season.
After returning to full fitness ahead of the 16/17 campaign, Macleod then suffered another knee injury in October 2016 that kept him out of action for another year.
Whilst there were glimpses of Lewis recapturing the form that inspired Brentford to move for the midfielder, the player eventually moved on at the end of his contract to Wigan Athletic.
After failing to hold down a place with the Latics, the ex-Scotland youth international would move to Plymouth Argyle where injury would once again disrupt his playing time.

Admitting in pre-season that he was set to undergo surgery on the troublesome knee problem, Lewis Macleod is still without a club but is training towards his coaching badges.
The ex-Rangers star’s appearance on Open Goal is sure to turn a few heads and there will be plenty excited to hear what the talented midfielder has to say about his career.
Meanwhile, one current Rangers midfielder can be the driving force behind his international side’s World Cup charge.
