Ex-Rangers kid Nathan Patterson impresses for the Everton U23s in Premier League 2 as the Toffees’ first team managerial situation remains uncertain.

The 20-year-old Scotland international right-back is settling into life at the under pressure Premier League club after a £12m January move that could rise to £16m depending on his success [Sky Sports].

The deal to take Nathan Patterson to Everton stands as a record fee received for a player at Ibrox and a landmark deal to kickstart Rangers’ much-deliberated over player trading model.

But so far the talented youngster is yet to play for the Goodison Park club’s first team with Nathan’s first appearance for Everton coming at U23 level.

Impressing on his first appearance in an Everton shirt, Nathan Patterson helped kickstart a sweeping counter before bursting a gut to get into a neat crossing position and finding the head of Lewis Dobbin.

The goal was to be the decisive one too in a 1-0 win for the young Toffees.

Nathan Patterson Rangers move comes at transitional time for Everton

Whilst we’re sure that it is only a matter of time before Nathan Patterson breaks into the Everton first team, the player’s move comes at a time of uncertainty for at Goodison Park.

The appointment of legendary Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez backfired spectacularly with the Spaniard being sacked after defeat to Norwich City last weekend.

With ex-Gers striker Duncan Ferguson in caretaker charge, the Toffees also lost the weekend’s clash against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa and nervously find themselves in 16th in the Premier League.

Only four points off the relegation zone, remarkably Everton have only one win in their last 14 Premier League matches and are really in dire straits.

With ex-Celtic star Jonjoe Kenny currently in the Everton first team ahead of Nathan Patterson – something which highlights just how bad the situation is we’re sure – things need to change.

Let’s hope that when they do we get to see ex-Rangers kid Patterson show the Everton first team exactly why he was so highly-rated at Ibrox.

Whilst Nathan Patterson has moved on from Rangers, the Ibrox side have already got a whole new young talent to get excited about.
