It’s almost eight years ago that Rangers were sent tumbling down the divisions. And as such, it’s almost eight years ago that Lee Wallace opted to stay and help rebuild a shattered side.
The former Rangers captain might currently be banished to the shadows at Ibrox, but there are few players who’ve made such a sacrifice for a football team.

Wallace came with each and every one of us as we got sent to the very bottom of Scottish football. He also helped lead us back up during a period of huge uncertainty.
And whilst it’s never always been perfect for Lee Wallace, he gave up so much for Rangers in their time of need. It’s imperative the supporters and fans never forget that.
And also why the left-back deserves a proper send-off at Ibrox. If anything, to show just how much we as supporters appreciate his sacrifice.
Lee Wallace gave up a meatier pay packet, developing at a higher level and an international career to stay at Ibrox. He gave it all up to help Rangers.
But after that infamous fall-out between Lee Wallace, Kenny Miller and Graeme Murty, he’s scarcely been seen at the club. What happened that day remains unclear.

But regardless of that clash, Lee Wallace’s Rangers legacy is a part of something bigger. With his contract set to expire in June, we simply must give him a run-out at Ibrox before the season ends.
It’s the chance to pay tribute to someone who sacrificed so much for our football club. It is the very least Lee Wallace deserves.
