Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard looks set to take ex-Celtic striker Moussa Dembele to Al Ettifaq – with Alfredo Morelos still without a club this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the French striker – who Lyon signed from Celtic for £20m in 2017 – is set to become the latest name to move out to Saudi Arabia.

There is a huge European migration to the Middle East this summer with clubs across Saudi Arabia looking to bolster their squads ahead of what promises to be a fascinating campaign.

But Rangers fans may well note that it is former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele who is heading to Al Ettifaq and that Steven Gerrard has not turned to his former player in Alfredo Morelos.

Whilst there has been no official link between the two in the press, given Steven Gerrard’s previous relationship with Alfredo Morelos perhaps a move was primed this summer.

But given that Steven Gerrard knows the Colombian, whose time at Rangers was plagued with attitude and fitness issues, it’s perhaps telling that the Al Ettifaq coach hasn’t looked in Alfie’s direction.

As the striker continues to share contrasting clips of his situation on social media, the striker either holidaying or training, Alfredo Morelos is yet to find a new club since leaving Rangers.

As Moussa Dembele – a player often compared to the South American – lines up a move to Al Ettifaq, Alfredo Morelos appears to have been given the cold shoulder by Steven Gerrard.

That said Alfredo Morelos has also recently claimed that he wants to continue playing football in Europe, so maybe any approaches from the Middle East have been instantly rebuffed.

“I have made it clear I want to stay in Europe and play football there,” said Alfredo Morelos.

“We are currently working towards making that happen. No, I still don’t have anything and there is nothing close, but hopefully something interesting will come up. I am calm and relaxed about the situation.”

Whatever the case, Rangers fans will be wishing that things come good for Alfredo Morelos who, at his best, was a key player at Ibrox over six years with the club.
