Rangers have one more big appointment to make before the summer with the club, seemingly, heading in the right direction.
Steven Gerrard has been heavily tipped to return as Rangers manager where he could inherit yet another rebuild, although nowhere near the scale of the one that he encountered in 2018.
There are other names mentioned with Marco Rose the latest high-profile candidate who is said to be getting considered by the prospective new owners.
The imminent arrival of the San Francisco 49ers makes it an exciting time to be a Rangers fan, as does Kevin Thelwell’s appointment as sporting director.
Having Thelwell in post means that there is someone who will be fully aware of who could be the best fit to take charge with one former Premier League boss said to be “very keen” on the Rangers job.

Russell Martin ‘keen’ on landing Rangers manager’s job
According to EFL Analysis, Russell Martin isn’t going to be short of offers despite Southampton posting one of the worst ever Premier League seasons.
The ex-Rangers defender stuck to his guns in terms of style of play and, after seeing Vincent Kompany fail upwards into the Bayern Munich job, who could blame him?
If Thelwell and Gretar Steinsson are looking for a manager with a proven playing style, then it is easy to see why Martin might be on the shortlist.
At MK Dons, Swansea and Southampton, Martin has earned praise for the way that his teams have played.
They press high, have excellent fitness levels and play out from the back, all qualities that Rangers fans want to see from their team.
The question is – what type of manager do Rangers want?
Could Martin be the right pick for Rangers?
Chris Jack has claimed that Gerrard is being considered as a figurehead, but as Ange Postecoglu demonstrated at Celtic, a manager with an aggressive style of play can dominate in Scotland.
It might not be a style that is effective elsewhere – see Martin and Postecoglu this season – however, in a team that controls possession, it makes a lot of sense.
Rangers fans aren’t particularly bothered about having a “Rangers way” of playing, they just want to win.
After a series of poor appointments, Patrick Stewart will be glad to have the help of Steinsson and Thelwell, who have both got big managerial calls right in recent years.
