Ex-Gers stars attend Ricksen Fundraiser – let's talk about that instead

Ex-Rangers stars Nacho Novo and Gregory Vignal turned out to support Fernando Ricksen at a special Ricksen fundraiser in Glasgow last night.
The duo were teammates of the Dutchman’s during his time at Rangers. Ricksen suffers from Motor Neurone disease and fans came out in their numbers to help raise funds for his MND Charity.
But earlier today, a story has emerged about a twisted Celtic fan getting a crude tattoo about the ex-Rangers captain. Don’t let that detract from the real story.

Ricksen made his first public appearance in four months in Glasgow’s Tradeston last night as part of a fundraiser for his MND Charity. He was accompanied by wife Veronika and was delighted his old teammates came along too.
He was on good form at the fundraiser, even joking such events “get him out of bed in the morning”.
The former Gers icon was also given a hero’s welcome at the bash.

Fernando Ricksen a part of Rangers history

Ricksen spent six years at Ibrox between 2000 and 2006, winning seven trophies and eventually captaining the side.
The right back turned midfielder also made 12 caps for the Dutch international side. At club level, Ricksen also turned out for Fortuna Sittard, AZ Alkmaar and Zenit Saint Petersburg. He is loved at all the clubs he played for, but it’s at Ibrox where he is most fondly remembered.
Ricksen will also see out the rest of his days on Scottish soil. He is currently too unwell to fly home from the Airdrie hospice where the Dutch icon currently resides.

The talented footballer is also not the only ex-Rangers player currently suffering with MND. Supporters are organising a golf tournament in Falkirk to raise money for the ongoing care of ex-Bear David Hagen.
This was another successful MND Charity event which has raised money for sufferers of the disease.
And the ongoing care of the Rangers legend and this Fernando Ricksen fundraiser is a much more appropriate thing to discuss than the antics of one idiot.
