Ex-Celtic star and anti-Rangers pundit branded “paranoid” in on-air rant

Outspoken radio host Ewen Cameron has taken aim at former Celtic striker and routinely anti-Rangers pundit John Hartson for his style of coverage.

The ex-Welsh international striker had a successful career north and south of the border turning out at Parkhead between the years of 2001 and 2006.

Also playing for the likes of Luton, Arsenal, West Ham, Wimbledon, and West Brom, John Hartson earned 51 caps for the Welsh national team, scoring 14 goals.

But it’s Hartson’s time at Celtic for which he is most remembered and notable in Scotland, and which also coincidentally forms the foundation of the outspoken former striker’s punditry.

And its Hartson’s often quacked-out, conspiracy-laden ramblings which have caught the attention of Ewen Cameron who didn’t miss as he unloaded both barrels on the Welshman as part of a new show.

Ewan Cameron took aim at John Hartson as part of the brand new Clyde One Superscoreboard Big Football Podcast with Steven Mill.

For evidence of what Cameron is talking about, see Hartson greetin’ in the aftermath of Rangers’ Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Celtic for the most recent example in a long list of them.

Here is Hartson also alluding to a Masonic refereeing conspiracy after Rangers were awarded a penalty last season too.

It’s a regular, depressing feature of Scottish football coverage and the fact John Hartson is given airtime has been lambasted by Cameron who branded the Welshman “paranoid”.

John Hartson branded “paranoid” by Ewen Cameron

“Right, John Hartson,” starts Cameron [Big Football Podcast].

“This is a guy who played at Luton, do you think when he was there his dream was Celtic? Of course it wasn’t.

“When he was at Arsenal, did he care about Celtic? No he didn’t. When he was kicking the face of Eyal Berkovic at West Ham, was he thinking of Celtic? No he wasn’t.

“Yet here is as a football pundit in Scotland, narrow-minded, blinkered, biased, paranoid. How does that happen?

“You’re allowed to be all of that if you’re a Celtic fan, if you’re a Celtic man, if you grew up as a Celtic fan.

“He didn’t. He’s one of the worst football pundits in Scottish football.”

Ouch.

Kudos to Ewen Cameron, at least someone had the courage to say it and let’s hope John Hartson drops the anti-Rangers conspiracy shtick for the season ahead and we can focus on the football.

Meanwhile, one Rangers-linked playmaker is set to leave his current club but the president is decidedly coy regarding precisely where he is heading.
