There is some mystery surrounding the future of Rangers and West Ham-linked Steaua Bucharest attacking midfielder Darius Olaru as the Romanian club’s owner confirms he is to leave the club.
Rangers were said to be interested in the 24-year-old Romanian international earlier in the window with ProSport claiming visiting Ibrox scouts were blown away last season.

It’s easy to see why too; a goalscoring attacking midfielder who can shoot from range, Darius Olaru is an exciting prospect and one that had Gers fans then licking their lips.
But claims of an £8.4m price tag and interest from Premier League West Ham and Serie A Torino dampened Ibrox spirits regarding a potential move.
Until now.
Rangers-linked Darius Olaru set to leave FCSB
Steaua Bucharest president Gigi Becali has been out in the press claiming that his club’s prized asset is on the way out of Romania.
But the FCSB chief was tight-lipped regarding exactly where Darius Olaru could end up, with some Rangers fans having faint hopes it might be Ibrox.
The Steaua president also confirmed that the player’s asking price has been dropped to £5m, or €6m.
“It is about Olaru also going elsewhere,” said Becali [Sport Romania].
“I received 5 million euros but I did not accept. We asked for 7 million euros, but we left it at 6 million euros. I don’t want to talk more. You’ll see (where Olaru ends up).”
These comments have certainly got tongues wagging when it comes to Rangers, especially when you consider the Gers were in the hunt for a midfielder earlier in the summer.

The Ibrox club reportedly failed in a £6m move for Angers midfielder Angelo Fulgini, who eventually moved to Mainz in in the Bundesliga.
Bayern loanee Malik Tillman may well have been the alternative buy but that hasn’t stopped Rangers fans musing over a potential move for Darius Olaru even if there’s nothing concrete to suggest he is Ibrox bound.
Meanwhile, one new Rangers star has been learning all about the club from an old master who has been pictured laying down the Ibrox law.
