Ex-Celtic coach breaks out violin with salty claims regarding Rangers “gulf”

Former Celtic midfielder John Collins has made a salty claim regarding Rangers and the Parkhead side as he struggles to comprehend the Gers overtaking the Parkhead club.

In the predictable style of a Celtic fan of his vintage, Collins defiantly claims that there is “not an enormous gulf” between the two sides despite the enormous gulf of 20 points in the Premiership.

Reluctantly, the former Celtic coach would admit that only three Celtic players would get in a combined Old Firm XI but we all know even that’s a major stretch going by results this season.

Not only that, but Collins reignites the old Morelos v Edouard debate with the geriatric French U21 international better than the Colombian through Collins’ green-tinted spectacles.

“There is not an enormous gulf,” said Collins [BBC Sportsound 19/04/21]

“Celtic have had the worst season possible; everything has gone wrong for them.

“My eleven at this moment in time, after the poor season Celtic have had, McGregor would always be in it.

“I think Edouard is a better player than Morelos and I think Ajer would be in it.

“So three. Of course, Christie has had a poor season but I think he is a terrific football player.

“Rangers have been a better team – a more consistent team week in, week out.

“The nucleus of their team has been selected while Celtic have chopped and changed.”

If you listen really closely, you can hear the sound of a violin somewhere between Celtic Park and Easter Road subtly covering the salty tears of John Collins.

Rangers are the Champions, Rangers are already two or three years ahead of Celtic despite a ten-year head start at Parkhead, and no Celtic player would get in that Rangers team at present.

Sorry John, I don’t make the rules, but maybe it’s time Celtic fans started taking Rangers seriously. Or don’t, it’s up to you.

The meltdown coming out of Parkhead has been as entertaining as it has been satisfying and it might not be done just yet after their “first choice” manager was linked elsewhere.
