Celtic and their supporters have provided plenty of laughs for Rangers and their fans this season and the biggest one of the campaign could yet be to come after their “first choice” manager was linked elsewhere.
Ex-Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is a man in demand and Celtic were believed to have made their move for the Englishman last week.
However, unnamed representatives of Howe moved quickly to quash “premature” talk of a deal being done with the 43-year-old a wanted man and taking until the summer to decide his future [Sky Sports].
Now, Howe has been named alongside Rangers boss Steven Gerrard as one of the managers being linked with the now vacant manager’s job at Premier League Tottenham Hotspur.
The day after Spurs were announced as one of six Premier League clubs signing up to a breakaway European Super League, Jose Mourinho was also sacked from his role.
Rangers boss Gerrard was named by some reports as a potential replacement in the weeks prior to his sacking with Howe another name regularly mused over in the press.
However, both Howe and Gerrard are not believed to be leading the pack with RB Leipzig boss Julien Nagelsmann thought to be the primary candidate for the job [Daily Mail].
But that said, how hilarious it would be to see Celtic miss out on the man so many of their fans are convinced is going to be the next manager at Parkhead.
And whilst it’s true Gerrard has been mentioned, Stevie G has already reiterated his commitment to Ibrox with the links merely welcome appreciation of the job Gerrard has done with the Gers.
