An embarrassing dive from Rangers’ win over Dundee Utd goes viral online as fans ask if the incident is the worst Scottish football has ever seen.

Dundee Utd left-back Aziz Behich dramatically grabbed his face to dive down at the corner flag with Rangers James Tavernier holding him off with an arm.

The blatant cheating went unpunished too, despite being about two metres away from the incident, and there will now be increasing calls for retrospective punishment.

The incident might’ve also gone under the radar a little in the Scottish sports media – who’ve instead chosen to focus on a dive from Malik Tillman in the Dundee Utd box – with Rangers the focus instead of Dundee Utd.

Remarkably, Rangers captain James Tavernier was handed a yellow card for the incident.

The blatant dive from Behich might just be the worst the game in Scotland has ever seen and it deserves nothing but ridicule and – hopefully – retrospective punishment.

Dundee Utd dive can’t stop Rangers victory

Rangers defeated Dundee Utd 2-0 at Ibrox to maintain their solid Scottish Premiership form under Michael Beale, with the club now taking 43 points from the 45 available under the Englishman.

Bayern loanee Malik Tillman was the man of the moment for Rangers, the USA international netting twice as the 20-year-old continues to prove a key player at Ibrox.

With Celtic on similar form – and the pressure off due to a nine point gap – Rangers have been unable to chip away at the Parkhead side’s lead with that late Celtic leveller in a 2-2 Old Firm draw at the turn of the year looking increasingly important.

Next up for Rangers is a trip to Celtic Park – but not before Celtic travel to Ross County – and if the club harbour any ambitions of putting up a title fight it is quite simply a must win.

But that’s taking nothing away from Aziz Behich and the Dundee Utd star’s dive against Rangers, which was quite simply amongst the most embarrassing we’ve ever laid eyes upon.
