Rangers are keen on AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen but the required compensation could become a real problem.
Rangers parted ways with Michael Beale on Sunday night after less than a year in the Ibrox hot seat.
Gers fans just never really seemed fully convinced by Beale’s work and the writing has been on the wall for weeks.
Recovering from the defeats to PSV Eindhoven and Celtic just felt like a mountain to climb and Rangers have now pulled the trigger.
The search is on for Beale’s replacement and AZ boss Pascal Jansen is a prime contender as things stand…
Pascal Jansen problem for Rangers
90Min now report that Jansen is ‘under consideration at Ibrox and he would be keen to hold talks with Rangers.
Jansen appears interested in the job but it’s stated that the compensation required could be a problem.
Jansen only signed a new contract in March, committing his future to AZ until the summer of 2025.
That means Rangers would likely have to pay considerable compensation to get Jansen out of the Eredivisie club.
When you factor in the money Rangers have spent in the dugout lately, it’s a massive factor.
Sacking Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his staff, then bringing in Beale cost around £5million, and that’s before the cost of then sacking Beale and his staff.
Rangers may be reluctant to pay more big money on another manager and there now appears to be a big stumbling block with Jansen.

Jansen has also attracted Premier League interest
Rangers aren’t alone in fancying Jansen, who currently sits second in the Eredivisie with AZ having dropped just two points so far this season.
TEAMtalk suggested last week that Everton and Crystal Palace were rivalling Rangers for Jansen.
Neither of those jobs are available right now though; Sean Dyche is under pressure and could soon be replaced whilst Palace are eyeing long-term successors for Roy Hodgson.
That may mean that Rangers try to ramp up the interest in Jansen before those Premier League clubs can get involved.
This will seemingly come down to money though with AZ no doubt expecting hefty compensation for their impressive manager.
