Rangers fans feared the worst this week when injury rumours spread surrounding Dujon Sterling.

The Ibrox utility man has been used predominantly from the bench this season but is considered a key member of Philippe Clement’s squad.

So when whispers around a lengthy lay off due to a broken wrist began to spread online, you’ll forgive some Rangers fans for getting nervous.

Despite the support’s fears about the Ibrox club’s cursed luck with injuries being very real, there is some good news on the Dujon Sterling front this week.

But that can’t be said for every member of the Rangers squad.

Ominous Dujon Sterling injury rumours put to bed

Dujon Sterling has mostly been a substitute this campaign after the right-back picked up an injury in Rangers’ pre-season campaign.

But the defender got his first start of the season and impressed in the middle of the pitch as he played the full game against St Johnstone in the Premier Sports Cup at Hampden.

In the wake of the 2-0 victory, Sterling was the victim of rumours suggesting that a potential broken wrist was set to keep him out for the foreseeable future.

But now a report in the Rangers Review has moved to rubbish those rumours by claiming that the wrist issue is not expected to keep Dujon out of the first team.

The versatile Rangers star could be seen with a cast on his arm in the victory over the Perthshire Saints but it is not expected to keep him out of the next few matches.

The news will come as a major boost to Rangers at a crucial juncture of the season, with Philippe Clement not having his injury problems to seek.

Rangers wait on injury update on seven players

There are a number of Rangers first-teamers currently out of action due to injury.

Nicolas Raskin remains out until some time in September after picking up an injury in the pre-season friendly defeat to Ajax in the Netherlands.

Colombian winger Oscar Cortes is also facing a spell on the sidelines after pulling up in the 0-0 opening day Scottish Premiership draw with Hearts.

Likewise, Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz is facing a lengthy lay-off after injuring himself in the 2-0 Champions League defeat to Dynamo Kyiv.

Scott Wright and Leon Balogun are both still missing with muscle injuries, which Philippe Clement insists are not expected to keep the pair out for any substantial length of time.

Tom Lawrence also missed the weekend’s Premier Sports Cup win over St Johnstone due to a sickness, whilst an injury sustained by Robin Pröpper in the 2-0 victory is not expected to be serious.
