Man United loanee Amad Diallo is set to turn out for Rangers against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday evening, a month after the German giants were credited with interest in the winger.

After an injury-hit first half of the season during which he only made one first-team appearance for United, Diallo was linked with a temporary exit throughout the winter transfer window.

Dortmund were keen on Rangers January signing Diallo

Then, in mid-January, Dortmund were linked to Diallo by the Sun.

They were said to be admirers of the 19-year-old and weighing up an attempt to bring him to Signal Iduna Park on loan.

However, in the end, it was Rangers who would win the battle to snap up the ex-Atalanta starlet until the end of the season.

Diallo has had a mixed first few weeks at Ibrox, scoring on his debut against Ross County but struggling against Celtic and then dropping out of the side, before showing glimpses of his talent at Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.

Now, his highest profile fixture to date awaits against his former suitors and what a time it would be to explode into life.

Diallo is by no means guaranteed a starting spot for this one, but his pace should be a real asset on the counter-attack against the Bundesliga side and he’s likely to play some part in the game.

A draw would be a superb result for Gio van Bronckhorst’s men and it would keep the tie alive ahead of the second leg at Ibrox next week.

Meanwhile, a highly-decorated Dortmund star has been ruled out of the match due to suspension.
