Premier League clubs Fulham and West Brom are eyeing moves for former Rangers attacker Josh Windass, according to The Star.
Windass divided the fan base during his time at Ibrox, with some supporters criticising his attitude and performances in big matches, while others insisted that he was one of the best players in a limited team.
After two years at Ibrox, Windass left in 2018, joining Wigan Athletic for £2.5m [Scottish Sun].
He moved to Sheffield Wednesday from the then cash-strapped Latics last summer and has had a decent first full season at Hillsborough, scoring ten goals and notching six assists from 42 appearances, with two of his goals coming in his last two Championship outings.
The Owls are likely to be relegated, though, and their top goalscorer may switch clubs again in the coming months.
Earlier this week, Pete O’Rourke stated that Cardiff City, Middlesbrough and Stoke City were all tracking Windass.
However, it appears that they aren’t the only interested parties.
The Star asserts that Premier League sides Fulham and West Brom are both also keen, with Mark Warburton’s QPR another potential option for the former Ger.
Windass may not have convinced a lot of Rangers fans, but he’s clearly doing plenty right south of the border and even though he’s contracted at Wednesday until the end of next season, it seems likely that he’ll soon be on the move.
Even if he does end up at Fulham or West Brom, though, he won’t get to play in the Premier League. At least not right away.
That’s because both the Cottagers and the Baggies are on course to be relegated from the top flight.
