A challenging few weeks for Joe Worrall have compounded in the on-loan Nottingham Forest defender being dropped from the Rangers side.
Originally put down to a knock picked up against Hearts in early April, the big defender has struggled to get back into Gerrard’s team.

Whilst much of that will be down to the form of Nikola Katic, is there something else influencing Gerrard’s decision?
After the Rangers Player of the Year Awards night on April 7th
Joe Worrall was filmed swearing about Celtic.
The video smacked of unprofessionalism and Gerrard was not amused. The Gers manager even came out and said players would be “severely punished” for this sort of thing in the future [originally the Express].
Fans might enjoy the odd wind-up to our rivals, but the circumstances surrounding this reflected badly on the club. Gerrard clearly agrees.
It brings unwanted attention into the club and the manager wanted to make a point about this.

Has it had an influence on Joe Worrall being out of the team? It’s hard to say. But it’s bound to have made Gerrard think twice about recalling the player in a hurry. More to make a point than to serve as lasting punishment.

For now it seems, the jersey belongs to Katic. But there’s no doubt we’ll see more of Joe Worrall before
he heads back to Nottingham Forest [originally Football Insider].
Even if he was a bad boy a few weeks ago.
