Debunking those reports linking Rangers' Alfredo Morelos with Cruz Azul

If the recent transfer report linking Alfredo Morelos with a move to the Pedro Caixinha led Cruz Azul isn’t the height of silly season, I eagerly see how it’s going to be topped.
In a story that sounds nice as a headline, there seems to be little substance to the claim other than a story ran by the Scottish Sun. It was repeated by the Daily Record not long afterwards.
Both claim that there’s real interest from the Mexican outfit and whilst we can’t completely write it off, it all seems a little far-fetched.

The story appears to revolve around some quotes from Pedro Caixinha and the fact Cruz Azul have shelled out over £20m on three players within a year.
Pedro Caixinha is reported as saying:

“We have a very good squad here. We have a base of 16 Mexicans and seven foreigners and we all speak the same language.
“But the squad is not yet complete. We are in the market for one more striker and we are actively looking to bring a new player in.

“Last season, our main weakness was a lack of goals. Ideally, I’d love to add a player who can guarantee us goals.
“This season our objective is to win everything.”
Whilst it’s clear Caixinha wants a striker, absolutely nowhere does it say that he’s chasing Alfredo Morelos.

Whilst it might sound good as a headline, this story feels like a complete non-starter. Besides, the controversial striker has his sights firmly set elsewhere.
