David Gray has fired a warning shot to Rangers ahead of their clash with Hibs.

The Hibees head coach will welcome Philippe Clement‘s side to Easter Road this weekend with Gers on a high after smashing rivals Celtic on Thursday.

It was a terrific performance from Gers who destroyed the league leaders to cut the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Manager Clement spoke on the Celtic thumping after the game but his attention turns now to Sunday.

Ianis Hagi, Robin Propper and Danilo were the match-winners on what was a stellar afternoon for the Light Blues and they will be determined to build on the victory.

It was a result that even had Celtic pundits praising Gers‘ showing.

Meanwhile, Hibs have are unbeaten in five matches with three wins in that time including an Edinburgh derby victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.

Their coach, Gray, this week won December manager of the month in the Scottish top flight and perhaps he has allowed that to go to his head with his comments before facing Gers.

Gray feels Clement and his squad will “not want” to make the trip to Leith at this time due to the form his side are in.

David Gray says Rangers face ‘in-form’ team of the Premiership

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Hibs boss said: “It’s a really good game to look forward to, and I think the last place that Rangers would want to come right now is the in-form team in the league, which is ourselves.

“So that’s the confidence we need to take from that.

“Yes, they’re off the back of a fantastic win in the Old Firm game but we need to take the confidence from the position we’ve put ourselves in and how we’ve been playing of late.

“It’ll be tough but if we can play to the best of our ability we know we’re a match for anyone.

How Hibs’ results compare to Rangers

“It’s a very different game [from the reverse fixture], we’re at home.

“We’re in a very different place from when we played them the last time and I think that can only be a positive.

“But at the same time you can’t take that for granted, it will be a difficult game.”

Form team or not, Hibs lie seventh in the division while Gers are comfortable in second with a game in hand.
