Somehow, Rangers have managed to turn what should have been an exciting summer into one where fans are beginning to wonder if there is any point following their team at all next year.
No new “first team ready” signings have been made and nobody under contract has been sold despite the obvious need for Philippe Clement to free up space in the squad and money on the wage bill.
Then, there is Ibrox, stadium upgrades seemed to be going smoothly until work ground to a halt leaving fans with no idea where they will be watching Rangers at the beginning of the season.
There has been movement and supplies coming into the stadium in recent days, however, the opening home games will still be anything but at home.
Nothing has been announced, and no information has been passed onto a support in desperate need for some positivity at a time when conspiracy and myth is filling the void.
A penny for John Bennett’s thoughts who had promised more communication when he took over as chairman and had been left to with a lot on his plate following James Bisgrove’s departure to Saudi Arabia.

Will Dave King put his foot down amid Rangers summer of chaos
Perhaps rather ominously, the club’s largest shareholder and dominant force since the 2015 takeover, Dave King, has been spotted back in the country.
Playing a round of golf at The Old Course, St Andrews with legendary swinger Gary Player, King will have planned to return to Scotland to take in two of the calendar’s biggest events.
The Scottish Open and The Open take place in the coming weeks and, as a keen golfer, King will no doubt be an avid spectator.
However, as the largest shareholder at Rangers, Mr Chairman can expect a phone call, if he hasn’t already had one.
Speaking last year to the Rangers Review, King was clearly happy with the club’s hierarchy:
“In that sense, I have the comfort now that I maybe didn’t have a year or so ago where I do feel that John Bennett is the right guy.
“He should have been there. When I stepped down, John was the natural one, was the person to take over. But I am very confident with John, not only about his passion for the club.
“To be fair, Douglas had passion for the club. You could never criticise Douglas for not having passion for the club. I think John is a mature businessman.
“I really think if you look at where the club has gone since John took over, it is more on the track that I was hoping it would take.
“If you take John and James, they are both individuals I know well. John was someone I brought in post regime change, I know him well, I trust him completely.
“He is a smart guy who will do the right thing but it will be balanced, it will be done with a level of maturity and thoughtfulness over the whole picture.”
John Bennett should share the load and get King on board
King is never one to mince his words and he has been strangely quiet on the whole Ibrox fiasco.
The lack of communication in particular has been a source of frustration and King will be demanding assurances from the board about work being completed as soon as possible.
The former chairman has said that he is always available to help if required and given that Bennett is also involved in player recruitment this summer, there could be a role for King.
After all, there is no point having someone with his experience involved with the club and not turning to him when help is needed.
And help is badly needed right now.
