Andrew Cavenagh and his consortium, along with the 49ers enterprises, are set to review Danny Rohl’s position at Rangers.

Rohl admitted that he has the backing of the Rangers board, but things do not appear to be entirely rosy behind the scenes.

The situation involving James Tavernier has not left the German in the best light, not just among the supporters but the hierarchy as well.

Danny Rohl’s position remains under review despite recent comments

According to the Daily Record, Rohl’s job is not 100 per cent secure going into the new season, even though he stated that the owners back him.

Cavenagh and the hierarchy are set to take into account the German’s body of work since he took over in October.

They will be undergoing a review of his position this summer, considering how well he has done since taking over from Russell Martin, but also recent results in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers were arguably the favourites going into the split, but lost four games in a row to end the season in a shameful manner.

Rohl will do himself some favours if he manages to secure a win against Falkirk in their last game of the season on Saturday.

What Rangers will consider in Rohl’s review

The owners will certainly give Rohl credit for getting the club back into the title race, as it looked highly unlikely when he took over the reins.

His remit at the time would have been to get the new signings on board and start building a squad capable of winning the title next season.

However, four league losses in a row are unacceptable, no matter what part of the season it is, let alone a title race.

The board will likely examine xG trends, gauge individual errors, fatigue, and whether or not tactical rigidity crept in during the run-in.

They will also consider his evolving tactics and gauge if it is sustainable for the long run as he will want players in the summer that fit into the system.

A careful consideration will be made about the four January signings as well and see if he’s managed to get the best out of them.
