Danilo thanks God in Rangers update; Cortes, Diomande, McCausland & Raskin respond

It’s been a long time since Rangers fans last seen Danilo on a football pitch.

The Brazilian striker, 25, was last summer’s marquee signing with Rangers splashing a reported £6m to sign the striker under Michael Beale’s leadership.

Whilst Danilo was certainly bright in the early stages of his Rangers career, fracturing his cheekbone against St Johnstone stunted any progress.

Not long returning, an injury sustained against Hearts in December ended his season.

Fast forward seven months and finally Rangers have seen Danilo back on the pitch and the striker’s gotten rather emotional about it after the game.

Danilo ‘thanks God’ after Rangers return

There were a few eyebrows raised when Danilo wasn’t risked in the midweek friendly against Standard Liege.

But when the striker returned to the Ibrox fold for the clash with Ajax in Venlo, his name was a welcome addition to the Rangers squad.

Playing the final 15 minutes of the 2-1 friendly defeat against the Dutch giants, it marks the end of a crucial chapter in the striker’s injury recovery.

But the hardest part – getting back to his goalscoring best with Rangers – is still to be written.

Taking to Instagram after the game, Danilo has thanked God for giving him the strength to carry on amid the injury.

“Being back on the field after my injury fills me with immense gratitude,” writes Danilo.

“I thank God for His guidance and healing, allowing me to pursue my passion once again.”

Ibrox teammates send support

The update hasn’t been missed by several of Danilo’s Rangers teammates either.

The Brazilian striker is clearly a popular player amongst the Rangers squad and several of the club’s stars flooded the ex-Ajax star’s page with support.

Oscar Cortes has also just returned from injury and commented: “Dale Hermano 🙌😍”

Mohamed Diomande said: “❤️🙏🏿”

Nicolas Raskin said: “🤩❤️”

Ross McCausland added: “💙🙏”

It wasn’t just Rangers teammates showing their support for Danilo on Instagram either.

Former teammates such as Sven Botman, Igor Paixao, and Dean Solomons all chimed in to applaud Danilo after his injury comeback.
