Cyriel Dessers partnership with Hamza Igamane raises Rangers striker transfer decision question

Philippe Clement must know that Rangers are doing something right when his players are linked with moves away from the club.

The win at Tannadice is a start but there is still a lot of work to be done to the squad before the manager will be fully trusted that he is the right man for the job at Ibrox.

Both Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane have been linked with transfers away from Rangers, but a blossoming partnership between the two could be a surprise bonus of the recent injury crisis.

Cyriel Dessers backs new Rangers partnership with Hamza Igamane

Speaking after the 3-1 win, Dessers always believed that the young Moroccan could be the perfect player to support him up front:

“For a striker, rhythm is so important, but I was happy to be on the pitch to play together up top with Hamza,” Dessers said. “And I think we I think we have a very good connection, and hopefully that can grow as well.

“I think most of the times he came on for me, or the other way around. Hamza is a very good guy and when he was playing, I tried to support and try to help him, but I always thought like that, that we could be a very good fit and Sunday was a start. And if that understanding gets even better, I think there’s way more possible.”

Are Rangers considering selling the wrong striker?

Danilo has 10 goal contributions in just under 800 minutes, scoring seven goals in the process.

Pound for pound, he is a better striker than Dessers given his mobility and ability to drop deeper and link play as a No.10, however, there is one big difference between the pair.

Dessers is always fit.

In terms of transfer fee, should Rangers decide to sell, there isn’t much between the pair.

Danilo is younger, but Dessers doesn’t have the recent injury woes.

Maybe, Rangers are trying to sell the wrong striker.
