Rangers’ recruitment has been hit and miss at best in recent seasons with yet another huge rebuild on the cards this summer.
It will be hoped that the 49ers Enterprises live up to the transfer guarantees that were sought by the outgoing board, even if Nils Koppen won’t quite be handed a blank cheque.
On paper, Rangers don’t need a striker, however, the 1-1 Old Firm draw summed up the season perfectly.
Craig Moore, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, is adamant that Rangers need to address what has been a problem position.

Rangers urged to sign striker by Craig Moore
When asked if Cyriel Dessers was the man to lead Rangers’ attack, Moore said:
“I would still be looking for another striker, Andy (Walker). And if that striker has a really good pedigree, then he would certainly be given a chance to try and nail that number nine position. And again, I don’t think that’s any different to what Celtic will be looking for.
“They’ll still be looking for another striker as well. You know how important it is to have two or three really, really top-level strikers. Rangers need to improve upon that.
“For me, it was Dessers doing Dessers’ things yesterday because at times he looked distinctly unimpressive in the game. But that bit of finishing was hugely impressive. I think his numbers are really impressive.”
The question is, if Rangers want to sign a new No.9, who leaves?
Who should Rangers sell to make room?
Dessers has 32 goal contributions this season, and yet, he still had to face doubts about his future.
The 30-year old has said that he wants to stay at Rangers, but it might not be up to him.
An offer was accepted last summer for Dessers, however, the player chose not to move.
In terms of fan opinion, Hamza Igamane is the main man and has shown what he can do in a central role.
Barry Ferguson’s tactics have seen Igamane become almost a peripheral figure, but it would be a surprise if he isn’t more involved next season.
Then there is Danilo.
Nobody really knows what sort of shape his form is in because he isn’t getting the chance to start games.
What is known, is that he has the best goal contribution per minute ratio in the Scottish Premiership.
The reality is, all three could be sold for decent fees and none of them are indispensable.
If Rangers want to move forwards though, having Cyriel Dessers as the starting No.9 isn’t an option.
