Rangers have just announced the signing of former captain Steven Davis on a one-year deal come to the end of the season. And it might end up being our biggest and most important signing of the summer.
The Northern Ireland legend has finally begun to find a rhythm with Rangers and has shown his class over the last few matches. Fans are generally very happy that he’s signed on for another year.
Playing in a deeper quarterback role, Davis has the ability and composure to control the midfield.

More than that, he has the capability to do something we haven’t done enough of all season. Create from the centre of the park.
Most of Rangers’ goals and assists come from via James Tavernier or Alfredo Morelos. Rangers’ midfield has at times felt stagnant and lacked control and leadership. Davis has both in spades.
Granted, Scott Arfield has managed to hit eleven goals but Davis’ arrival has allowed Gerrard to move the Canadian captain further forward.
Classy, intelligent and with tonnes of ability, we cannot underestimate just how much of a difference a fully fit and firing Steven Davis can have on this team.
With a few months of football and a full pre-season behind him, he won’t just be a pivotal player for Rangers next season.
He could prove to be the biggest and best signing by the Ibrox club this summer.
