The David Turnbull transfer saga in the east end of Glasgow rumbled on for weeks, but could there still be another twist to come over the current season?
Now recovering from surgery, Turnbull’s proposed move to Rangers’ rivals Celtic collapsed after a knee problem flagged up in a medical.
Upon his recovery, could Rangers ever steal in and secure the talented teenager’s services?

Whilst there was plenty of rumours concerning interest from Ibrox [Four Lads Had a Dream], none of this ever materialised in official reports or bids.

Indeed, Rangers are said to have been following Turnbull for years [the Herald].
This season, Rangers opted to throw weight behind a deal for midfield playmaker Joe Aribo for the new campaign.
The Ibrox club reportedly beat Celtic to the signature of the former Charlton playmaker.

That left Turnbull with a choice between Norwich and Celtic, with the player opting to stay in Scotland in the short term.
But the entire process has been overshadowed by public disagreements, ropey statements and the character assassination of the player’s agent.
Whilst many in the press are convinced Celtic will return for the player in due course, you have to feel David Turnbull himself would be mad to take up any offer.
The entire transfer was fraught with an unconvincing stinginess that will surely put the player off the club.

The very public commentary on Turnbull’s injury also sought to cover Celtic’s back rather than tastefully protect all parties.

Instead, Turnbull should focus on impressing for Motherwell and revaluate his options in January or come to the end of the season.
Don’t be surprised if the list of suitors also includes Rangers next campaign.
What an end to the saga that would be.
