When Rangers face Ayr United tomorrow night, you won’t find many betting against the Ibrox club. But if there’s one man to make an Ayr win happen, it’ll be a Bluenose. Lawrence Shankland is on fire.
The 23-year-old former Aberdeen striker has been setting the Championship alight this year. Much like he did last year in League One.
The former Aberdeen striker has scored 15 goals in 12 games so far this season. He got 29 in 33 last year. That’s an impressive 44 in 55. He also dumped Premiership Dundee out the cup with a double in the last round.

Lawrence Shankland will be desperate to impress
The boyhood Rangers fan will be desperate to impress at Ibrox. It might just earn him a dream move.
At 23, he still has plenty to offer and he’ll want to catch Gerrard’s eye.
Rangers signed Borna Barisic after he impressed, so there’s every chance Shankland could do the same. But Rangers fans would probably rather a routine victory instead.
Even then, there are still plenty who Lawrence Shankland has caught the eye of.

Rangers will be hoping the red-hot striker won’t be firing tomorrow, but that won’t stop him trying. The former St. Mirren man has said he isn’t phased about playing his boyhood heroes and is there to a job. One they’re confident of completing.
“We’re going in confident,” Shankland told the Evening Times. “It’s been a good start to the season for us and it’s a game we’re looking forward to.”
People’s eyes might be on Shankland, but Rangers will be hoping it’s one of their fringe men who starts firing.
