When Umar Sadiq signed for Rangers there wasn’t much known about the lanky Nigerian.
But there was plenty said by people who’d worked with him before. Talk of him being the new Nwankwo Kanu had Rangers fans excited.
Roma spent £2m to bring the striker to the club from Spezia after a successful loan, but we’ve yet to say why at Ibrox.
Against Ayr, Umar Sadiq has to be given the chance to show it.

A chance to give squad players a run out
It is important Rangers aren’t complacent against Ayr.
The Honest Men are top of the Scottish Championship, they dumped Premiership Dundee out of the last round and in Lawrence Shankland, they’ve got a player who is capable of the pretty incredible. It’ll be a hard game and I wouldn’t expect a complete overhaul of the starting XI.
However, Rangers have to be confident at Ibrox.
I expect to see the likes of Middleton, Worrall and Sadiq come in.
It’s maybe the game that Graham Dorrans returns to starting line-up.
If Sadiq doesn’t start, does Gerrard fancy him?
Sadiq has made only two appearances for Rangers, both from the bench, and he struggled to get into both games.
The boy clearly needs fitness. But for the U21s, the Nigerian scored a double a last month.
There’s clearly ability there and if he can get firing, Rangers will have three solid options up front. Morelos is on fire, Lafferty has four already too.

There’s probably never been a better game to start Sadiq.
If Gerrard doesn’t, does it mean he doesn’t fancy the Nigerian?
