Could Josh McPake be about to break into the Rangers first team?

Rangers youngster Josh McPake is reported to be offered a new deal at Ibrox amid interest from Liverpool and AS Roma [Daily Record].
The talented attacking midfielder was one of the stand-out players for a hugely successful Rangers youth side last season.

But with some of Europe’s biggest clubs reportedly loitering, could it mean Rangers may hand him a spot in the first-team this season?
The youngster is certainly already training with the first team. He was snapped by the Rangers media team as the first-team returned to full training.

Steven Gerrard also said that a couple of players weren’t far away from their first-team debuts at the tail-end of last season.
The Rangers manager’s comments came after the 17-year-old stole the show in the 3-2 Scottish FA Youth Cup Final win over Celtic.
Such was the youngster’s form for the U18 and reserve sides last season, he also won the Academy Player of the Year award at the club’s POTY Awards last season.
This all suggests Josh McPake is clearly very highly rated by Rangers and Steven Gerrard. Now they have to secure his future at the club.

With interest circling you imagine Rangers will offer McPake a route into the first team.
It’s a very exciting prospect for Rangers fans, who generally love nothing more than seeing one of their own tearing it up at Ibrox.
And should McPake keeping going the way he’s going, it’s something we might see sooner rather than later.
