The majority shareholder of Colombian outfit America de Cali has claimed Rangers-linked attacker Santiago Moreno will cost north of £2.6m (€3m) this summer.

Tulio Gomez was talking up the talented player’s abilities amid links to the likes of Rangers and Premier League Leeds United.

And both clubs could get something of a bargain in the pacey forward as Gomez claims that within a few years the 21-year-old will be a regular in the Colombia team.

However anyone interested in signing Moreno will face stiff competition as the Cali chief reveals that bids have already arrived for the player.

“They (offers) have arrived for Santiago Moreno but he is a jewel,” said Gomez [America en la red via Daily Record].

“He is 21-years-old and he is growing much more. In two or three years it will be a regular in the Colombian national team.”

When asked how much the club value the player, Gomez claimed that America de Cali would want “well over €3 million” in the summer.

This will be of particular interest to Rangers fans given the player was previously valued at £5m by Football Insider.

Rangers’ interest in the player was also ratified by broadsheet journalist Mike McGrath who included the links to Rangers in his Transfer Notebook earlier in the month.

McGrath would name Leeds United and Southampton alongside Rangers as three British clubs interested in moving for Moreno.

Not only that, but this report hypes Moreno up majorly by comparing the pacey frontman to Liverpool’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mane.

Mane, 29, cost Liverpool £34m from Southampton in 2016 [BBC Sport] and he is widely regarded as one of the main contributors to the Anfield club’s success in recent seasons.

Whilst there’s plenty of talk regarding players coming into Ibrox, a familiar Euro foe of Steven Gerrard’s is reportedly eager to take a leading Gers star out of the club.
