Claudio Caniggia is a name that almost all Rangers fans immediately warm to when they hear it.
An industrious, tireless, classy striker, who even at the age of 34, worked as hard as anyone on the pitch at Ibrox. He also knew how to step up in the big matches.
Now, the World Cup star – who is famously best friends with Diego Maradona – is set to return to Glasgow. Fans will be able to catch Caniggia at a rare speaker’s night in the City’s Westend at the end of December.
The night will take place at the Record Factory on Byres Road on the 30th December. It’s the day after Rangers host Celtic at Ibrox.
That means this unique little event could also be the cherry on top of a special weekend.

A few stories from an Argentinian legend
Claudio Caniggia was capped 50 times for Argentina in a career which saw him play in Argentina, Italy, Portugal, Scotland and also Qatar. He spent two memorable years at Ibrox between 2001 and 2003 and was a valuable member of the treble winning side of 2003.
He got the opener in a 2-1 Old Firm win in the League Cup Final that year. Caniggia might’ve been in the twilight of his career at Rangers but you’d never have known it.
The Argentinian played at three World Cups for his country (’90, ’94 and ’02) and is considered a hero in his homeland. He’s also got a cult following in Govan.
He won five trophies for Rangers in two seasons after signing from Dundee.
