James Tavernier has been linked with a return to Rangers as a coach, as his playing contract will not be extended into next season.
The Englishman and the Light Blues decided to part ways this summer after he spent 11 years at Ibrox.
Tavernier did end up getting his Rangers farewell, but that event was not without its fair share of drama that involved Danny Rohl as well.
A four-man shortlist has been drawn up to replace James Tavernier…
We believe Hampus Skoglund is the ideal candidate. Let us know what you think!
James Tavernier will not be joining Rangers as a coach
The Rangers Journal have poured cold water on reports suggesting that Tavernier will be returning to Ibrox next season in a coaching capacity.
Rumours surfaced on social media on Saturday suggesting that the Englishman will be part of the coaching staff now that Derek McInnes is in charge.
Tavernier and Rohl had a falling out, and when the right-back decided to leave, it looked like the German was going to be in charge for the new season.
What is Ross McCrorie’s best position, according to you?
Rangers have brought him back to Ibrox!
However, with him moving to RB Salzburg, the 34-year-old would have been more receptive to giving it a go and returning.
That will not be happening as he will be continuing his playing career and will finalise his new club in the coming weeks.
Rangers News understands that there are multiple teams keen on securing the right-back’s services and will also give him regular minutes.

Will Rangers fans want a Tavernier return?
It makes no sense for Tavernier to return to Rangers, especially as he left in order to get regular minutes.
He believes that he still has a couple of seasons in him, and while he may not compete at the level of the Premiership, there are clubs in England’s second tier who could get him minutes.
Also, with everything that happened about his farewell, it would be counterproductive to have him back at Ibrox.
If Lewis Ferguson joins post the World Cup, who should Derek McInnes name the Rangers captain?
This is assuming Nicolas Raskin leaves Rangers…
Some day in the future, there is a very good chance that he returns to Ibrox, if he does decide to become a coach.
He loves the club, the fans love him, so it would make a lot of sense to have a reunion in the future.
As things stand, most supporters would want him to be happy and playing football regularly elsewhere.
