Rangers fans have not been pleased with Danny Rohl for not including James Tavernier in the eleven against Hibernian.

Tavernier was upset with Rohl as the German decided not to start the right-back for his final game at Ibrox, which ended 2-1 in favour of Hibs.

The 34-year-old, who was originally meant to be on the bench, ended up leaving the stadium, but was called back for his farewell.

However, despite returning, he did not make the bench, and thus, failed to get his farewell game at Rangers‘ home ground.

Rangers fans want Danny Rohl sacked after his treatment of James Tavernier

Rangers supporters are not pleased with Danny Rohl and have called for him to be sacked following the loss against Hibs.

On learning about how the German handled the Tavernier situation, William Burnett, a Gers fan, wrote on X: “Shocking! Deserves a proper send off!”

Gabriel Beech responded by calling for Rohl’s sacking. “Danny, it’s time to go,” he wrote.

@Stewarty0907 also mirrored these views, stating that Tavernier deserved a proper farewell.

He wrote: “It’s just not right. Irrespective of the views on his career here, he deserves a goodbye, thank you and best wishes for his service. Basic manners.”

Danny Rohl could leave amid links to RB Salzburg…

Who do you see replacing him?

Another Light Blues fan joined in the discussion, stating: “Started him on Sunday but doesn’t want to tonight in a pointless game, shocking.”

Peter Adam tried seeing both sides of the argument, but as it was a dead rubber and all the fans wanted was to see Tavernier play at Ibrox for the last time, the least Rohl could have done was start him.

He took to X to say: “Usually I’d side with the manager on something like that, however, not here. Tav deserved the chance to lead the team out one last time and this is a kick in the face to the man in my opinion.

“He should never have started against Celtic & the fact that Sterling is fit to start 3 days later is mental.”

What Rohl said about Tavernier ahead of the Hibs game

While all credible sources stated that Tavernier was upset with Rohl’s decision to leave him out of the starting eleven, the manager had a completely different take on things.

The Rangers boss claimed that the 34-year-old suffered an injury on Monday and was not 100 per cent going into this game.

He also admitted that the Englishman was not with the team on Wednesday, which made it impossible for him to start.

Rohl, privy to the reports of a falling out between him and his captain, categorically denied having any discussion or conflict with Tavernier.

He said: “I think a little bit the story of this, he has a medical issue on Monday, unfortunately. There was a question mark whether he would be available today.

“Finally, I make my decision that he will not start today because he was not 100 per cent and finally, he stayed away from the team today.

“I think there was no conflict or no discussion.

“I think as a manager, I have to make my decision for the starting line-up and for me it was very clear and I was honest to him to say ‘You will get your minutes today’ because he deserved a great goodbye, but when it was time, as a start or sub was my decision to make.”
