Celtic star Callum McGregor has revealed who he voted for in this year’s PFA Scotland award – and it turns out it was a Rangers player.
The Celtic midfielder joins teammate James Forrest and Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos on a four-man shortlist for the award. But the player McGregor voted for didn’t make the cut.
But that hasn’t stopped the rival star rave about Rangers goalie Allan McGregor.

“I just think Allan has been outstanding,” said McGregor, as quoted in the Daily Record. “There were so many moments when he was keeping Rangers in it in Europe with massive saves.
“His experience has been massive, bringing that team together. He was as good a candidate as anyone – and his name is McGregor!
“I really don’t know what the perception of that will be (a Celtic player voting for a Rangers player) but you can only be fair and recognise talent.
“If someone has had a good season, I don’t know why you shouldn’t vote for them.”
It’s a nice a touch from Callum McGregor to vote for his namesake and rival in the polling. The PFA Scotland awards are voted for by fellow players and is perhaps the one award player’s covet more than any others.
To earn the respect of your fellow professionals over a season is a real achievement. And even if Allan McGregor won’t join Calum on the shortlist, he appears to have certainly done that.

The big stopper is a giant between the sticks for Rangers and has pulled off some match-altering saves this campaign.
But does recent transfer interest suggest Rangers are on the hunt for someone to challenge for the 36-year-old’s place in Steven Gerrard’s side?
