A former SPL Chief Executive has described some Celtic fans as obsessed with Rangers.
Roger Mitchell was in charge of the SPL between 1998 and 2002 but has been open about being a Celtic fan ever since.
But that didn’t stop him roasting his own fans.
Speaking on Twitter the ex-Scottish football chief wasn’t exactly being nice about Rangers. But he stuck the knife into supporters who obsess over everything Rangers, from the financial situation to the club’s name.
Mitchell said: “So many bhoys are clearly obsessed by them [Rangers]. I mean obsessed.”
We’ve been saying that for years.
1) Since “Armageddon” I’ve been relatively ambivalent about Rangers. Been openly a “move on” guy, but still love to see them struggle, like today. So many bhoys however are clearly obsessed by them. I mean obsessed. Their name, complex insolvency law, Res12, no OldFirm exists.🤦♂️

Mitchell also went on to talk about how Rangers are “hated” and how the Celtic Board are dropping hints to the obsessed Sevco maniacs to let it go.
He even went on to say the best way to diss a rival is to “treat them as if they no longer matter”. Yes, this man once headed up the SPL.
For Rangers fans, it’s been a strange phenomenon. At times it has felt that to some Celtic fans, lording it over Rangers with conspiracies and claptrap feels better to them than their success since Rangers went down.
Ambigious blogs, conspiracies ran by ancient societies, letters to FIFA. You name it. These are just some of the drastic positions Celtic fans have taken up when it comes to Rangers.
No wonder Mitchell uses the word “obsession” to describe it.
