It’s often said that when it comes to the commentary of some Celtic fans on Rangers, what they don’t know they tend to make up in conspiracy and claptrap.

There have been some wild conspiracies over even the last season or so, from masonic plans to “stop the 10” to Rangers illegally obtaining a work permit for Alfredo Morelos.

But the latest one – the suggestion that Osijek threw their Europa League tie against Rangers last season so the Ibrox club would sign their players – is certainly up there.

Highlighted by the fantastic Kerrydale Meltdown and originally posted by a fan on Celtic forum Kerrydale Street [about halfway down the page], the poster was commenting after Eros Grezda returned to the Croatian side.

A conversation then takes place about Osijek throwing the match and players being conveniently injured for last season’s second-round qualifier against the Croats.

See the highlights on the thread above or HERE.

Rangers of course signed Borna Barisic (£1.5m) and Eros Grezda (£2m) last season and are known to retain a good relationship with the Balkans club.

But it is another level of deranged to think the Croatians threw their tie with Rangers to recoup transfer fees a fraction of the amount they’d make if they actually made the Europa League group stages.

Whilst ordinary Celtic fans might cringe at this sort of stuff, you really cannot make it up.

Well, actually, as this bonkers conspiracy proves, yes, yes you can.
