Rangers and Celtic fans don’t miss the chance to have a laugh at each other’s expense but even your average Parkhead supporter will be amazed at the latest coming out of India.

One Celtic supporter has been impressively Sevcoing this week as news broke of a remarkable staged gambling scam coming out of the tropical sub-continent.

First let us give you a little bit of context regarding the original story.

As wonderfully outlined by BBC Sport journalist Jordan Elgott, a group of Indian farmers and youngsters have been busted running a fake Indian cricket league.

The group would wear kits of established Indian Super League cricket teams and stream fixed matches on YouTube, enticing Russian gamblers to wager on the games.

Streams would never show a wide-shot of the entire pitch with the umpire signalling to the bowlers and players how to throw the match based on the online betting, with the group even hiring a commentator to make the matches seem realistic.

Somehow lasting two weeks, and taking place three weeks after the Indian cricket league had actually ended, four people have now been charged in what is a quite remarkable story.

Celtic fan makes Rangers jibe regarding remarkable Indian cricket story

But in a Rangers and Celtic context to make things even more remarkable a small-time Twitter user has won the attention of Scottish football fans for his response to the story.

Somehow managing to factor Rangers and 2012 into his take on the extraordinary tale from India, Celtic fan Graeme Neilan claims that the current Ibrox hierarchy are guilty of similar after the club’s financial collapse in 2012.

It’s genuinely outstanding that this guy has managed to turn the Indian cricket story into something to do with Rangers.

And he’s not the only rival fan mentioning the Ibrox club in a completely unrelated story this week either.

As highlighted by Kerrydale Meltdown, here’s another faceless account cracking wise about Jon Daly’s apparently Easter Island-like head in a completely unrelated tweet about the moai statues.

Naturally Rangers fans have share a laugh regarding the response of these Celtic fans and whilst it certainly isn’t the first time Rangers have been at the forefront of a rival fan’s mind, something tells us it won’t be the last either.

All this reminds us of the time one Celtic supporter even wrote a letter to FIFA about a refereeing conspiracy halting the Parkhead club’s failed 10IAR bid.
