Rangers club insider EstConsultancy has claimed that Celtic made a last-minute attempt to hijack the Rangers move for Joe Aribo.
The normally reliable club insider was reacting to a blog about Rangers pursuit of the player.
The blog centred mostly on information reportedly relating to the player’s contract.

Reports claim that Aribo is set to earn a reported £1m a year from the Ibrox club [Daily Mail, via the Scottish Sun].
Whilst EstConsultancy doesn’t say anything on that, they completely rubbish the blog.
The claim that Celtic made an approach for the player over the weekend is unverified, but the Twitter account is usually a reliable source of information for Rangers fans.
Aribo was one of the names Celtic were set to pursue according to a leaked transfer document.
Should the move go through, it would represent a real coup for Rangers. And not just because they’ve dealt a psychological blow to Celtic.
The player was reportedly interesting the likes of Premier League Southampton and Aston Villa before Rangers stole in for his signature.

Because the move would be to Scotland, Rangers would also have to pay a nominal development fee. English clubs would be forced to pay Charlton considerably more.
It means Rangers get a talented, young midfielder with significant resale value for next to nothing.
If Rangers can get Aribo to sign on the dotted line, it’s a solid piece of business from the club.
