Celtic are set to go head-to-head with Sunderland over Kilmarnock full-back Greg Taylor after the Daily Record claimed both sides have made bids for the player.
News yesterday that Celtic felt Taylor’s £3m asking price was too high had some unofficial suggestion Rangers might want to steal in on the 21-year-old [Express].
The Ibrox club’s issues at left-back are well-documented but it’s unlikely the club will move in the position unless we move someone else on.
On top of that, Borna Barisic’s match-winning free-kick at the weekend has generated real hope the Croatian international can finally turn the corner at Rangers.
Whilst there is no official suggestion Rangers are interested in Taylor, the fact Rangers are light in the position has had some fans musing over the possibility of moving for the player.
The fact that Taylor is also a boyhood Rangers fan [Daily Record] would’ve surely given the club the advantage should Rangers have launched a move.
But now Rangers – who might’ve bided their time with Taylor – could be priced out of a move for the player as Sunderland and Celtic prepare to battle for his signature in this window.
Whether he moves on or not, Taylor also has plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks.
The talented full-back has been called up to the Scotland squad for the second time, alongside Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack.
