On Monday evening, Rangers confirmed the permanent departure of up and coming striker Andrew Dallas, for an undisclosed fee.
Several hours previously, though, Cambridge United had already broken the news to their supporters. The U’s media team got creative with their announcement, too.
The club’s Twitter account posted a video showing the young forward posing at Abbey Stadium, in a way which was supposed to echo the opening credits to ‘Dallas’ the TV show, accompanied by the show’s theme tune.
It seemed to go down well with the EFL League Two club’s support base, too.

Cambridge United announce signing of ‘delighted’ Dallas
An interview with the recently departed Ger soon followed, and it’s clear he’s raring to go with his new club.
“I’m delighted to get the deal over the line,” Dallas told United’s website. “I met up with the boys in Scotland and then played against Leicester City and really enjoyed it and it gave me such a good feeling about the place.”
“I’ve been able to learn pretty quickly what the rest of the group are like on and off the pitch and I get on well with them all and feel part of the group already. It will be a good life experience for me too, moving away from home. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

The transfer has split opinion amongst Gers supporters. Some feel he should have had more of an opportunity to make it at Ibrox, while others believe it’s a good piece of business from the club.
Time will tell whether or not the Gers will regret deeming the 20-year-old surplus to requirements.
He’ll be hoping to get off the mark as quickly as possible in competitive football and will get an opportunity to do so against Bradford City in their league opener on Saturday.
