There have been calls for a circuit breaker footballing lockdown in England as Covid-19 cases intensify in the country.
England is suffering from the rampant spreading of a new more infectious Covid-19 variant which has worked its way into football.

In the Premier League, Man City’s game with Everton on Monday evening was postponed whilst Fulham’s match with Tottenham is in doubt due to a spate of positive cases.
A total of 18 tests within the English top tier have come back positive – the highest since testing began – and the English Football League has been ravaged by the virus.
Newly appointed West Bromwich Albion boss Sam Allardyce has backed a circuit breaker lockdown in the country after one of his players tested positive.
“Everyone’s safety is more important than anything else,” said Allardyce [Sky Sports].
“When I listen to the news the variant virus transmits quicker than the original virus [so] we can only do the right thing which is have a circuit break.
“I am 66 years old and the last thing I want to do is catch Covid. I’m very concerned for myself and football in general. If that’s what needs to be done we need to do it.
“We had one positive this week and it seems to be creeping around no matter how hard we try.”
Alternatively, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims he “can’t see the benefit” of shutting matches down.
According to the Sky Sports report, there are no plans to shut the English game down but the situation down south remains slightly ahead of that in Scotland.
Rangers fans will be hoping the league season is not halted with the Ibrox side going so well and there has been no official suggestion that this could happen up north.

But this once again highlights the precariousness of the situation and will have Rangers and their supporters nervous heading into a pivotal point in the season.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has previously claimed that if play should be halted then “so be it” in comments which did not surprise the Ibrox faithful one bit.
